Carbon Neutral Policy
Carbon Neutral Policy
“Working together now, for a healthier planet”.
Statement from Our CEO
“Our intent is to be net zero by 2030 by reducing our carbon emissions to meet science-based targets to go net zero carbon by 2030. Our operations are already 100% powered by renewable energy supplier, Octopus Energy.
We encourage our staff and wider our operational network to drive or use hybrid/electric vehicles as part of our commitment to EV100. We are also open, adaptive, and committed to finding new ways to reduce our carbon emissions. Our partners are part of albert, and BCORP and to help us drive our joint commitment to a low-carbon world.
Twinned with our core net-zero aim is to invest, where possible, into nature and we will do that by helping to protect the natural world and specifically habitats such as rewilding which can help insects like bees thrive, and also plants such as sea grass that can be farmed to help absorb carbon emissions.
Our current and future partners will help us to maximise our impacts, ensuring that these natural habitats support our local communities, as well as the planet”.
Our Policy
Our “Carbon Neutral Policy” is our commitment to make our company, venues and where possible our partners to reduce their carbon footprint to net zero, meaning they aim to balance the amount of carbon dioxide emissions they produce with an equivalent amount of carbon dioxide removal or offsetting measures.
This policy typically involves implementing various strategies to minimize energy consumption, reduce waste, and transition to renewable energy sources.
Key components of such a policy might include:
- Energy Efficiency: Implementing energy-efficient technologies and practices in buildings and operations to reduce energy consumption.
- Renewable Energy: Investing in renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, or hydroelectric power to replace or supplement traditional energy sources.
- Carbon Offsetting: Compensating for unavoidable emissions by investing in projects that remove or offset carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, such as reforestation initiatives or renewable energy projects.
- Waste Reduction and Recycling: Implementing waste reduction and recycling programs to minimize the amount of waste generated and divert waste from landfills.
- Transportation: Encouraging the use of low-carbon transportation options for employees and patrons, such as public transit, cycling, or electric vehicles.
- Sustainable Practices: Adopting sustainable practices throughout operations, such as sourcing environmentally friendly materials, reducing water consumption, and promoting eco-friendly behaviours among staff and visitors.
By implementing such a policy, entertainment companies and venues can demonstrate their commitment to environmental sustainability and contribute to global efforts to combat climate change. Additionally, adopting a net zero carbon policy can also have positive branding and reputational benefits, as consumers increasingly prioritize businesses that prioritise sustainability.

Our technology is as sustainable as we can make it. We design for energy efficiency, building products that are made to last. Once our customers have finished with their routers, set top boxes and tech products, we recondition and reuse them. And when they are no longer useful, we recycle them. All our packaging is 100% recyclable, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified, and free from single-use plastics. We even made the world’s first CarbonNeutral® TV, Sky Glass.
Technology that doesn’t cost the earth
A powerhouse of sustainable film production
We created Sky Studios Elstree, our new film and TV studio, with the ambition of making it the most sustainable studio in the world. The campus is powered by solar and renewable energy. It uses harvest rainwater, LED lighting and electric vehicles through its operations.
Tackling the climate crisis, through TV
People care about the planet, and they’re worried about the impact of global warming. Through our TV, we’re keeping everyone informed and sharing smart, everyday ideas around sustainable living.

Supporting our suppliers to go net zero
We work with over 12,000 suppliers. They help us to do everything from building our technology to filming our TV shows. We’re working with our suppliers to support them to go net zero carbon with us, in line with our principles for a just transition to a low-carbon world. We’re also passing on the lessons we learn along the way to our suppliers, partners and competitors, to speed up change in our industry.
Investing in nature
Our priority is to cut our carbon emissions as fast as possible. It’s crucial though, that we reduce the impact of any emissions we can’t cut yet. We’ll do that by protecting and creating natural habitats, so that plants and sea grass can absorb those carbon emissions. Our partners at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and WWF are helping us to maximise our impact, ensuring that these natural habitats are good for local communities, as well as the planet.
